Highlights
Amorphous carbon nitride film, with different nitrogen content, has been prepared.
Nitrogen atoms are embedded in the carbon bonding network.
Disorder decrease with nitrogen leads to decrease of sp² cluster size.

Highlights:

• The the blast furnace slag (BFS) consists mainly of silica, lime, and alumina. Its specific surface area corresponds to 275.8m²/g and its PZC is around 3.8.
• The  maximum adsorption capacity is 34.26 mg/g after 50 minutes,
• The Langmuir model is the most commonly used for this process; the adsorption rate is best described by pseudo-second order kinetics, and lead ion transfer is governed by external and internal diffusion.
• Pb(II) adsorption on BFS is spontaneous, exothermic, and produces less entropy.

Cr doping effect on the ground state properties of SrTiO3 has been investigated
 Structural parameters indicates that Cr3+ doping alters the electronic structures of SrTiO3 by shifting the conduction band through lower energies for the Sr and Ti sites
 Replacing Ti site by Cr3+ results the energy gap in being eliminated revealing a new electrical case of conducting material for the system.

• In addition to that, manufacturing, stability and efficiency improvements need to be addressed in the future for these technologies are discussed and to represent its suitability a breakthrough of consumer electronics in the market. An overview of developing current prototypes DSSC and products of the main companies is included.

I am submitting a manuscript for consideration of publication in Ceramics International. The manuscript is entitled “The effects of Mg2Si ceramic particles morphology on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al–15%Mg2Si in-situ composite fabricated by combined ultrasonic stir casting, SIMA process and modified by Al-5Ti-1B refiner; A comparative study”.
  It has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere.
In the present work, the effect of ultrasonic treatment, SIMA process and Al-5Ti-1B master alloy on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al–15%Mg2Si in-situ composite was studied. The morphology of the eutectic Mg2Si phase transformed from the coarse Chinese script shape to globular shape in Al–Mg2Si in-situ composites during the SIMA process. Ultrasonic treatment, SIMA process and Al-5Ti-1B master alloy achieves uniform distribution of Mg2Si phase in the in-situ composites. After applying the SIMA process, Al-5Ti-1B master alloy and ultrasonic treatment, the strength and engagement have increased. This means that tensile strength increases from 251 MPa to 303 MPa and elongation percentage improves from 2.1 to 3.4, respectively.



 

Highlights

• The best mechanical properties were obtained for the 47% cold rolled sample heat-treated at 715C for 10 minutes.
• DSA mechanism and forming mechanical twinning when cyclic loads were applied increased the fatigue life of the alloy.
• Thermomechanical treatment caused grain refinement. The more cold rolling, the less grain size.
• Cold rolling and subsequent heat treating increased the fatigue life of the hot-rolled sample.

 

Highlights

• The effect of RSW parameters on the size of welding zones in TRIP steel joints, was investigated by DOE using the RSM and applying FE simulation. The input parameters were current intensity (A), welding time (B) and welding force (C). To validate the finite element model, two TRIP steel sheets were experimentally welded and the temperature measured during the process was compared with the finite element results and a very good agreement was obtained.
• Examination of the microstructure of the weld zone in the experimental sample showed that two subdivided zone formed during welding: NZ and HAZ. Based on the critical temperatures, the NZ and HAZ were determined in all finite element models, and the Nugget radius, Nugget thickness, Nugget area, and HAZ radius were calculated. Using ANOVA, the direct, quadratic and interaction effect of parameters on the responses were evaluated and a mathematical model was extracted for each response.
• The direct linear effects of all parameters on all responses were significant. But among the interaction effects, the effect of B×C on the nugget radius, the effect of A×B on the nugget thickness, the effect of A×B on the nugget area and the effects of A×B and B×C on the HAZ radius were significant.
• Increasing the current intensity increases the all responses, but when the its value approaches 10 kA, the responses decrease, which in most cases is due to the occurrence of expulsion and to prevent the spread of heat.
• Increasing the welding time continuously increases the nugget thickness, but in other responses it first increases and then decreases the size of the response.
• The effect of increasing the welding force is completely different from the effect of the other two parameters. Increasing the force, although initially increases the responses slightly (except for the nugget radius, which remains constant at first), but very soon due to increasing the contact surface of the sheets and reducing the electrical resistance reduces the heat generation and thus reduces the size of the zones.
