Mr Ghaffari Abbas  will present his PH.D thesis on " Improving acoustic conditions of Tabriz mosques of Qajar era through analysis of speech clarity(By the approach named effect of brick and brick decorations on reverberation time)"at 14:00 P.M on 10  September  2013 under the guidance of Dr.Seyyed Majid Mofidi Shemirani, Dr.Mostafa Abbaszadegan.

Abstract:

Mosque is the place to talk with Allah, place of contemplation to know more Him and the environment. It is for contemplation based lecturing

and oratory to know more almighty Lord and features of human being, or else it may not seem as a valuable place as it is.

This paper is on architecture and it is implementing scientific law to enable us to know more Lord through architecture. Eloquent speech requires clear listening

and it has its eternal position in acoustic. This paper is to analyze architecture of mosque through acoustic; accordingly mosques of Qajar era in Tabriz, the

pearl of architecture design and development are selected. There are 33 mosques in Tabriz but 6 mosques out of them are chosen as low volume, medium

volume and large volume; also, EASE and BZ7531 software are utilized for simulation; B& K units of Denmark are used for evaluation, survey test and

measurement too. There are several effective variables of clear speech including RT, STI, SPL, ALCons, and C50 but RT was selected as the most important

research parameter and as a conventional one, but other parameters were focused as thematic principles.

Main objective of the research is to analyze the effect of utilized brick and brick decorations in reduced reverberation time to know how clear is

oratory and speech; accordingly both brick structures and non-brick structures were tested.

Audience cognition is a very important issue by considering architecture conditions and speech in mosques constructed during Qajar. This paper has studied and

evaluated the mosques and listening process of human being without microphone through Single syllable, and Asma al-Hassani for attained results.

Quantitative approach included precise calculations, simulations, some descriptive conditions through library and survey evaluation, and utilization of authentic

scientific database 1 papers and study base conclusions. Demonstration of positive effect of comb filtering 2 in architecture of Qajar era and clear speech

cognition in the mosques of the mentioned period, scientific results, and concerning tables are written on the thesis.
