Laser plasma and matter Interaction lab

Focusing the laser beam of 800 mJ, ~ 6 nsec Q-switched Nd:Yag laser, intensities up to 1012 W/cm2 can be provided. Using 1st, 2nd, 3d, and 4th harmonics we can study the optical breakdown, and plasma produced by irradiating of solid targets to such laser beams. Hole structure as well as microstructure from laser interacting planar target, are also studied in this lab. The ablation hydrodynamics is also investigated in this lab. The optical breakdown can be also produced by such laser pulses in dielectric media such as air and pure water.
