
Special Report on the National B Class Automotive Platform Design
Iran University of Science and Technology is proud to be one of the leading pioneers in the design of the national B Class automotive platform project in line with uniting the university consortium and the automotive industry to localize the vehicle platform design in Iran. The platform, main part of an automobile, is capable of holding several different styles for its exterior and interior, and can be offered to the market in different models. A good platform consists of the following features: - It will provide an overall safety for the vehicle built according to the safety standards - It will facilitate the automobile with good steering and drivability - It will provide a good fuel economy designed in line with safety standards for different situations - It will be capable of proper installation and accessibility for designing different body parts and seats - It will facilitate a proper production As this national project is executed for the first time, all internal and external potentials will be taken into consideration. The Automotive Engineering Research Center and School of Automotive Engineering at IUST are responsible for this project, with strong support from years of research in both the local and global automotive industries. This multidisciplinary project is composed of knowledge from several fields, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials and metallurgy engineering, and chemical engineering. It will be a great opportunity for students within these fields to engage in this national project, which can guarantee their future job opportunities. It is noteworthy that Professor Mohammad Hassan Shojaee Fard, faculty at IUST and dean of the Automotive Engineering Research Center, supervises this project.
