Special Report on Iran’s Advanced High Speed Rail Systems

 Iran University of Science and Technology is proud to have advanced its research in the design and build of the nation’s Advanced High Speed Rail Systems. IUST’s schools of Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials and Metallurgy, and Industrial Engineering have had significant roles in the execution of this national project.

 The purpose of this project was to attain the following:

  a. Production of technical knowledge to advance the nation’s high speed railway systems

  b. Attend to the foundations and lines of rail systems

  c. Build and design of the rolling stock for national high speed trains that exceed speeds above 350 km per hour

  d. Build and control the execution of the Pilot line, 150 km

 The execution of this design will have significant effects on the nation’s scientific and technological developments

  1. Benefits

  a. Advancing the nation’s high speed railway carrier

  b. Reducing more than 80% financial and life threatening accidents than road carriers

  c. Saving time in the carrying of goods and passengers: carrying passengers by land with the high speed rails is equivalent to carrying by air, and the speed exceeds a road carrier by 200%

  d. Reducing pollution on the environment and atmosphere by at least 50%

  e. Saving Energy: there is a 50% reduction in the usage of energy for each kilometers

  2. Technological Benefits

  a. Expansion of new technology in the build and transport of high speed trains

  b. Expansion of scientific and technological abilities according to national standards

  c. Nationalization of railway system technologies, and its technological production services

  3. Environmental Achievements

  a. First place in the region for high speed transfer and carrying of passengers

  b. First place in the region for technological advancement in high speed carriers

  c. Among the Asiatic regions, Iran is considered the corridor of high speed carriers for the North and South, East and West
