  First Chapter

General features of Bachelor Degree Program

  Introduction:

In accordance with the Islamic republic of Iran constitution, such as second, third, thirty and the fourth principal which are Approved to train experts in the related industries and to convert the dependent, after investigations in mechanical engineering industries, comprehensive program in mechanical engineering’ for bachelor degree is designed .

  1- Definition and objective:

This program, by using appropriate science and technology for designing and calculating parts and systems which work by converting energy and heat/mass transferring, can prepare skilled individuals to be responsible for designing and calculation and perform designs of various mechanism in agriculture, military, automobiles and other machines in various industries in mechanical engineering such as heating powerhouse, combustion engines, gas turbines, jet engines, heating and ventilating and air conditioning, water based systems.

  2- Program and system

The average length of this program is 4 years and all courses are planned in 8 semesters and students should pass 142 units and 272 hours as work - study in appropriate plants.

The length of each semester is 16 weeks and the teaching length of each theoretical unit is 17 hours and each laboratory unit is 34 hours and the length of each exam is 1 hour.

  3- Courses:

There are total of 142 credit hours of follows:

  1_general education courses (22 units)

  2_science courses (25 units)

  3_core coursers (61 units)

  4_technical courses (28 units)

5_final project and workshops (6 units)

Apprenticeship has no credit and students have to attend 272 hours in two different periods of time preferably in the third and fourth year’s summer term.

  4 - Role and ability

Graduates of this course will be able to design and compute parts and systems in large section of industries including: power production centers for factory, steam power plants and water power plants, automotive industries and combustion engines, thermal and refrigerant installations of building, petroleum industries, industry of metal melting, food industry, water installations and other manufacturing factories and also will be able to design and compute parts and mechanism of heavy machinery of (agriculture, road construction, military),textile, automobile manufacturing and combustion engines, machines tools, industry of metal melting, food industry,… .

  5 - Necessity and importance

Necessity of providing this collection in accordance with section 4 is very clear.
